The Physics for our Future program has been launched with two lectures in the ACT and more to follow around the country. This exciting program, insitigated by former branch president Prof Hans Bachor and supported by the Australian Acadmey of Science, the AIP and the Australian Centre for Quantum Atom Optics, is intended to bring major advances in modern physics to teachers and schools. Welcome to the AIP's ACT branch website.

The Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) is the professional organisation concerned with the promotion of physics and the welfare of physicists in Australia. It has branches in every State and a National Secretariat located in Melbourne. The Australian Institute of Physics aims to promote all aspects of physics to the wider community and to provide support to physicists and physics teachers.

ACT Branch activities include:

  • monthly meetings at which invited speakers talk about the latest advances in physics
  • providing sponsorship for student members to attend approved conferences
  • taking an active role on issues in physics and science education
